This course will differentiate the Florida Nurse Practice Act and the Florida Administrative Code and explain their respective purposes.

Despite healthcare advances, new cases continue to occur each year. Healthcare professionals deliver treatment, education and advocacy for those living with HIV.

This course provides healthcare professionals with education on human trafficking including types of trafficking, extent, risk factors, identification, validated assessment tools, communication strategies, reporting procedures, and referral resources.

Kratom use in on the rise. This course provides an overview of Kratom, including its pharmacology, adverse effects, and risks associated with its misuse. Learners will explore at risk populations and treatments options that support safe and appropriate care, including buprenorphine when indicated.

Measles has re-emerged in recent years despite prior elimination in the United States. Declining vaccination rates and increase global travel are the main contributors for this. Measles is a highly contagious viral illness and can be transmitted before classic symptoms are recognized. Adding to this are delayed identification and isolation in healthcare settings. Thereby increasing the risk of rapid spread. The purpose of this course is to address identification, management, and prevention of measles using evidence-based guidance.

Medication adherence is defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as “the extent to which a person’s behavior – taking medication, following a diet, and/or executing lifestyle changes, corresponds with agreed recommendations from a health care provider” (WHO, 2003). This 2-hour continuing education course aims to provide healthcare professionals with evidence-based strategies to assess how well patients adhere to medications, identify any barriers contributing to nonadherence and ultimately provide effective interventions to improve adherence and thereby, patient outcomes. This course will integrate current literature, introduce validated assessment tools, and discuss applying interventions in relation to the cause of nonadherence.

This course provides licensed nurses with evidence-based strategies, regulatory guidance, and practical tools to identify, prevent, and report medical errors across diverse care settings.

Workplace violence is a significant occupational hazard for healthcare professionals. These healthcare workers are disproportionately affected by violence at higher rates than most other professions. Healthcare workers account for nearly 60% of all reported workplace assaults despite only representing 13% of the United States workforce. This course will discuss recognizing risk factors for violence, applying prevention and de-escalation techniques, and appropriate reporting practices.
